SIP Calculator

See how much a monthly SIP could grow to, based on an expected annual return.

Quick answer: A monthly SIP of ₹10,000 at an assumed 12% a year for 10 years grows to about ₹23.2 lakh: ₹12 lakh invested plus ₹11.2 lakh in returns. The formula is FV = P × [((1 + i)^n − 1) / i] × (1 + i), where i is the monthly rate and n the number of months.
Your details

A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) lets you invest a fixed amount in a mutual fund every month. Because you buy regularly, you spread your purchases across market highs and lows, and returns compound over time.

How this calculator works

It uses the standard future-value formula for a recurring investment: FV = P × [((1 + i)^n − 1) / i] × (1 + i), where P is your monthly amount, i is the monthly rate (annual rate ÷ 12) and n is the number of months.

Why starting early matters

Compounding rewards time more than amount. At 12% a year, ₹10,000 a month grows to about ₹23 lakh in 10 years but about ₹1 crore in 20 years. Doubling the period does far more than doubling the amount.

Equity mutual funds have historically returned different amounts in different periods, and returns are never guaranteed. Use a conservative rate (10–12%) when planning.

Frequently asked questions

What return should I assume for a SIP?

Long-term equity funds are often planned at 10–12% a year, debt funds at 6–8%. These are assumptions for planning, not promises.

Is SIP return guaranteed?

No. SIPs in mutual funds are subject to market risk, and the actual value can be lower or higher than the estimate.

What is the minimum SIP amount?

Many funds in India accept SIPs from ₹100 to ₹500 a month.
