Add GST to a price, or work backwards from a GST-inclusive price.
Goods and Services Tax (GST) is charged on most goods and services in India. For sales within a state, it is split equally into CGST (central) and SGST (state). For sales between states, it is charged as IGST.
Formulas
- Add GST:
Total = Price × (1 + rate/100) - Remove GST:
Base price = Total ÷ (1 + rate/100)
The GST Council simplified most goods and services into 5% and 18% slabs, with a 40% rate on a few luxury and sin goods, from 22 September 2025. The 12% and 28% options are kept for invoices issued under the older rates. Always confirm the current rate for your product or service on the official GST portal.
