Income Tax Calculator

Compare the old and new tax regimes side by side.

Quick answer: For a salaried taxpayer earning ₹15 lakh in FY 2025-26, the new regime tax is about ₹97,500 and the old regime tax is about ₹1,95,000 (assuming ₹2 lakh of deductions), both including 4% cess. Under the new regime, tax is nil if taxable income is up to ₹12 lakh because of the rebate.
Your details
Only used for the old regime. New regime allows no such deductions.

Salaried taxpayers in India can choose between two regimes. The new regime has lower rates but allows almost no deductions. The old regime has higher rates but lets you claim deductions such as 80C, 80D, HRA and home-loan interest.

Frequently asked questions

Which regime is better for me?

If your total deductions are large (typically above ₹3–4 lakh), the old regime can win. Otherwise the new regime usually costs less. The calculator shows both.

Can I switch regimes every year?

Salaried individuals can generally choose each year. Business income earners have restrictions.
